London, 8th October, 2018: World Chess, the official partner of the International Chess Federation (FIDE), has partnered with S.T. Dupont to create an exclusive collection of limited-edition pens to celebrate the FIDE World Chess Championship Match 2018, held in London. The pens will be available at S.T.Dupont.
S.T.Dupont designed the pen with World Chess. It’s produced in limited edition especially for the 2018 Match.
In November, Magnus Carlsen will defend his title in the championship match from 9-28 November against Fabiano Caruana, the US challenger. To celebrate the championship chess match, S.T. Dupont and World Chess have designed a limited edition pen collection, including a fountain, roller and ballpoint pen. The edition is inspired by the Atelier Collection.
The master craftsmen at S.T. Dupont have incorporated a unique ancestral technique and displayed extensive expertise, in creating the selection. The collection has 1500 pieces and each pen is unique thanks to an identification number engraved on the side of the clip. Each individual pen design, inspired by the Simon Tissot Dupont’s atelier launched in 1953, is a chessboard pattern, adorned with black natural lacquer with meteorite dust and finished in palladium to display. The unique design is a symbol of the elegant and cold grandmaster calculation during the play.
S.T. Dupont is the official writing instrument of the World Chess Championship Match and is a prize devoted to the all chess admirers. The pen collection is not only for chess players but will make an excellent travelling companion and will bring a note of special chic into the everyday image.
Ilya Merenzon, CEO, World Chess, said: “We’re thrilled that S.T. Dupont has decided to collaborate with World Chess again to create another bespoke collection of pens. As a regular traveller myself, these pens are extremely well-designed and also appeal to a chess fan like myself, with the chessboard pattern.”
Megha Malagatti, Executive Marketing Director, S.T. Dupont: “We started working with World Chess in 2016 and are thrilled that we can continue designing exclusive ranges for each match. Each game of chess is an match and our designers wanted to create a design that displayed the sophisticated but cunning side of the game by creating a exclusive pen collection.”
